Wow…lots to unpack here.
Really good, energetic show! Appreciated the Irish themes sprinkled in and out, especially that Thin Lizzy song. Listening to this Episode during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend definitely added to the festivities.
Outstanding Album Spotlight, and what a performance by Triumph at that heralded 1983 US Festival. Man, they sounded tight, and had such a powerful sound. Love that you put two “deeper” tracks in the spotlight, as well.
That being said….I’ve seen the Judas Priest set from that very same “Heavy Metal Day” many times. Triumph was great, no doubt. But in no way did they blow Judas Priest off that stage. Judas Priest was at the very top of their game in 1983, touring off the most successful album of their career (Screaming for Vengeance). I honestly don’t think any band could have topped them. I’d also add they wore unflinchingly wore leathers at that festival on a 97 degree day. Legends…..
This is just my opinion, of course!
Great cover, and great info about the late David Johansson. I never knew the cab driver in Scrooged was actually him. Crazy…
Really enjoyed this one…
Hope everybody is well..!
Semi- retirement has been good for you guys. This is the second fantastic show in two weeks. This is also the first time a did a deep dive on two artists on one podcast. The first was on the Rumjacks, I love their song “Light In My Shadow”. In fact it is in the top ten of songs on your podcasts. The second was on the group Triumph. As usual, I had never heard of them and it was a pleasure to discover their story and listen to a lot of their music. Thank you again for bringing this music to a novice like me. Stay healthy and happy,
What a fun episode! I’m on my second listen..
I am not familiar with the band, Triumph but I am loving what I am hearing! Follow Your Heart…what a great song!
Oh Volbeat! I recognized their sound right away. Great band!
Thank you for introducing us to great music!
Late to party here but excellent show with lots of interesting elements
Was not aware or forgot at best about the us festivals ..
Crowd enthusiasm was amazing. Triumph to me always an underrated band, sounded great. Magic power very high on my list of favorite songs ever, and the other two were great adds.
In all the shows never quite heard you downplay a song, band more than the New York Dolls … A veritable takedown, and quite funny. And indeed I did have the song in my head !
